Dodge Durango 4x4 Sport

The Dodge Durango was created as a powerful truck-based SUV, offering up to seven seats and the ability to tow up to an impressive 7,500 lbs (3,400 kg) when fully equipped. Sharing many features with the Dakota pickup, such as the front end, instrument panel, and front seats, the Durango was built with an innovative rear-facing third row, allowing it to fit eight passengers without compromising on space. The roof rack was specially designed to cover the slightly raised roof which came after the length of the doors was reduced and the height of the roof lifted by two inches in order to allow for stadium seating. The 4.7 L Magnum V8 replaced the 5.2 L Magnum V8 engine for 2000, though this was still an option for early 2000s models. In 2000, an all-wheel drive performance version named the R/T was released, featuring a 5.9 L Magnum V8 engine and an output of 360 hp (270 kW; 360 PS) and 412 lb·ft (559 N·m) of torque. This version included unique tires, wheels, suspension, and bumpers, and was finished with Viper blue paint with two racing stripes down the center of the vehicle. It could reach speeds of up to 142 mph (229 km/h), and had a 0 to 60 mph time of 7.1 seconds. For the 1999 model year, two wheel drive became available in the Durango, as well as a 3.9 L Magnum V6 engine. Unknown to many, 2000 saw the addition of further features, such as 6 in × 9 in (150 mm × 230 mm) heated rear view mirrors, steering wheel-mounted radio controls, and leather seats as standard on SLT Plus models. Four wheel drive models also added body-color wheel flares as a standard.
