Dodge Durango SLT 2004 posters

Dodge Durango SLT

The Dodge Durango SLT was the second-generation Durango first introduced as a concept known as the Dodge Durango R/T concept at the 2003-2004 Detroit Auto Show. When production began in 2004, the Durango had much in common with its larger Dodge Ram pickup, with a fully boxed frame and a larger size of 7 in (180 mm) longer, 2 in (51 mm) wider, and 3 in (76 mm) taller than its predecessor. The SLT trimmed offered the convenience of eight-seat capacity with third-row bench seating. In addition, a new coil-spring rear suspension for the solid rear axle was fitted, and a Watt's linkage system was included to improve ride comfort and a lower and wider cargo space. The Dodge Durango SLT offered four trim levels beginning in 2003. These include the SXT, SLT, Adventurer, and Limited, all of which could be powered by either the 4.7L Power-Tech V8 or the optional 5.7 L HEMI V8 engine, with the adjunct of the 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine available only on the base SXT trim level between 2004 and 2007. The 2004 debut saw the introduction of the 5.7 L engine, along with a new radio design and a modernized interior. In its facelift in 2006, the Dodge Durango SLT received redesigned grille, hood, headlamps, fenders, and wheels, plus optional features such as electronic stability control, a tire pressure-monitoring system, rear park assist, and a one-touch turn signal. That same year, Chrysler introduced the Chrysler Aspen, a luxury SUV based on the Durango. Sadly, production for the Durango and Chrysler Aspen was halted in 2009 due to a downturn in demand for full-sized SUVs that led to the shutdown of the Newark Assembly facility.
