Dodge Grand Caravan

The redesigned 2001 Dodge Caravan and 2001 Chrysler Town&Country were released for sale in August 2000, as part of a promotional tie in with Nabisco. The first vehicles of this fourth generation of vans rolled off the line at the Windsor Assembly Plant on July 24, 2000. Design work was done by Brandon Faurote from January 1997 through to the production approval in 1998. Upon reveal at the 2000 North American International Auto show, the models featured a larger body frame and modified headlights and taillights. The vans came with a range of trim levels – SE, Sport, SXT, AWD Sports, "base" model, AWD Choice, eL, C/V, ES, EX, AWD Wagon, and SXT All-Wheel-Drive. New innovative features included power sliding doors and power hatch, as well as remote operated sliding doors and rear hatch. Different engine options were available - the Mitsubishi 3.0L V6 was discontinued, while the 3.8L engine, based on the 3.3L, became available. In the 2002 model year, DaimlerChrysler removed the "DODGE" badges on the front doors of all Dodge vehicles. Then, in 2003, the Caravan C/V and Grand Caravan C/V returned after having been discontinued in 1995. Factory-installed features included optional rear seat DVD system with single disc player, and plastic cargo floor made of similar material to truck bedliners.
