Dodge Grand Caravan ES

The 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan, along with the Plymouth Voyager and the Chrysler Town & Country, was a North American Car of the Year award winner. It was also on the Car and Driver Ten Best for 1996 and 1997 and featured a number of pioneering innovations such as a driver's side sliding door, a seat management system, and a conventional door handle and lock on the rear hatch. Powered by two different engine options - a 2.4 L four-cylinder or 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72 V6 - the Caravan was available in a variety of configurations, including long- and short- wheelbase models, three- and four-door designs, and a wide range of powertrains including electric and compressed natural gas. In 1999, the Dodge Grand Caravan received updated front styling on all trims above SE, as well as sportier styling on the Sport and ES models. The ES model was the first minivan to offer the "AutoStick" transmission and 17-inch wheels. 2000 saw the addition of a one-year only 15th anniversary "Platinum Edition," while in 1998, a cargo net between the driver and front passenger seats was added.
