Dodge Magnum Police Vehicle

The Dodge Magnum was re-introduced as a 2005 station wagon on the Chrysler LX platform, as Dodge's first wagon since the 1991 Dodge Colt wagon. Though it is smaller in size than the full-size station wagons like the Chevrolet Caprice/Buick Roadmaster Estate wagons of the '90s, its interior dimensions are much closer to those of the more recent Ford Taurus wagon. The remodeled Magnum has adopted the Chrysler 300 design, with only some minor cosmetic changes. The car offers four engine options; the SE offering a 190 hp 2.7 LH V6, the SXT a 250 hp 3.5 L V6, the RT featuring the 5.7 L Hemi V8, and the SRT-8 powered by a 425 hp 6.1 L Hemi engine. The Magnum was made available with an all-wheel drive option in 2005 for the SXT and RT models, and the SXT and RT come with the Mercedes-Benz-derived 5-speed automatic transmission, while the remaining models come with a four-speed automatic. As with the Chrysler 300, the new Magnum has seen much success with the company and easily surpassing its predecessor, the Dodge Intrepid. Dodge announced a police variant of the Magnum to compete with the Ford Crown Victoria. It will be available only to law enforcement, emergency agencies, and government agencies, featuring the SXT's V6 as a base motor and the Hemi as an option, as well as features such as a steering-column mounted shifter, deactivated interior rear windows and locks, and bulletproof glass between the first and second row of seats and the cargo area. The Magnum is built in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It also made Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2005.
