Dodge Maxx Concept

The Dodge MAXXcab is a four-door Sport Utility Vehicle Pickup Truck concept car developed by Dodge and showcased at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show. Billed by Dodge as a “Passenger Priority Truck”, the design shared styling cues from other vehicles from the Dodge and Chrysler line up and was based on a modified Dodge Dakota chassis. Notable features included nimble, sedan-like handling, a shortened utility bed, and a minivan interior with seating for five passengers, the rear bench having built in child seats. The MAXXcab was powered by Dodge's 4.7 V-8 Magnum engine mated to a multi-speed electronic automatic transmission. While the concept was not intended for production, some of the features made it through to subsequent Dodge products, such as the idea of centering the design of a truck around its passengers - found in the 2006 Dodge Ram 'Mega Cab'.
