Dodge Neon

Sales of the second generation Dodge Neon commenced in 2000 and continued until the end of the 2005 model year. The sedan body style was the only model available. Engine units found in the car were the two-liter SOHC engine with an optional Magnum configuration, developing 150 horsepower. Its 1,000-plus refinements from the first generation model ensured a much more comfortable ride through the incorporation of a framed door, NVH refinements, and better steering. The R/T trim version returned in the year 2001 with the SOHC Magnum 2.0 Liter engine and various other features including a quicker steering box to enhance driving pleasure. The Neon Sport package was also available for the 2001 model year, with an R/T wing, 16 inch wheels, R/T springs, white instrument cluster and R/T steering box, though with the base model's132 horsepower engine and an automatic transmission. Prior to the discontinuance of the Plymouth brand, the Neon was sold in the United States under the Chrysler name. At the same time, the variant was marketed overseas as a Chrysler not a Dodge or Plymouth due the lack of popularity of these marques. Besides the two-liter engine, it also used a Tritec 1.6 liter unit, a variation of the two-liter SOHC engine. The transmission options were a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Rear power windows were only ever available in the front. As a result of its reputation, the Neon's name was changed to SX 2.0 in 2003 in Canada, though the Neon brand was eventually brought back. In Australia, the Chrysler Neon was discontinued in 2002. Finally, the Neon was facelifted again for 2003 with different headlights and a crosshair grille, with the ACR model being discontinued in 2003 and the R/T model for 2005.
