Dodge Neon RT

The second generation Dodge Neon was introduced in model year 2000 and production ended in 2005, and it was only available as a four-door sedan. This Neon boasted "over 1000 refinements" from the first generation car, and featured a redesigned, full-framed door. It included a 2.0 L SOHC engine that could produce up to 150 horsepower. The R/T trim returned in 2001 with this SOHC engine, 16 inch wheels, spoiler, dual chrome exhaust tips, quicker steering box, and stiffer springs - along with a unique one-year-only aircraft style spoiler. The Sport package was also offered in 2001, comprised of the R/T's aesthetic features, but with the basic 132 horsepower engine, and only available with an automatic transmission. In 2001, the second generation Neon began to be sold in some regions as a Chrysler, rather than Dodge or Plymouth. This change was due to the discontinuation of Plymouth brand. It was also made available with a Tritec 1.6 L unit which is a variation of the 2.0 L SOHC engine. The manual transmission had original ACR gear ratios, but was later switched back to its original gear ratio. The car featured only manual rear windows, with the front windows being power. The Neon underwent changes in 2002, with a changed front clip to match the R/T and ACR, and later a 2003 facelift which incorporated a "crosseyed" headlights and crosshair grille. The ACR model was discontinued in 2003, and the R/T model in 2005. The Neon name was changed to SX 2.0 in Canada in 2003, before being brought back. In Australia, the Chrysler Neon was discontinued in 2002.
