The third-generation Dodge Ram pickup truck was introduced in 2002 and is still in production today. It received a facelift for the 2006 model year, which included a redesigned exterior, an optional full-screen mapping in-dash navigation system, and the addition of the Mega Cab – a 6.25-foot (2 m) cargo box with 22 inches (560 mm) of extra cab space. This Mega Cab proved to be popular, and enabled the Ram to seat up to six people with reclining rear seats. Bluetooth U Connect and SIRIUS Satellite Radio are available options as well.
The Ram sold well at first, but it was unable to keep up with the eleventh-generation Ford F-150 in 2004. This was due to the lack of a true crew cab model. After 2006, the SRT model, with its 8.3 L V10 engine from the Dodge Viper SRT/10, was discontinued.
