The EDAG Show Car No. 8 is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, conceived by global engineering partner EDAG Engineering + Design AG, Fulda. Johannes Barckmann, head of the EDAG design team, shares that "We designed the EDAG Show Car No. 8 for a target group that wants to express their individuality and positive attitude to life,". Characterized by a forward angled belt line and a low-slung body close to the road surface, this influential roadster features striking recesses and air vents which trace aerodynamic lines, a sharply inclined bonnet, two strong headlights, and a twin exhaust. To stay true to the design's commitment to purism, the model is available without a roof.
EDAG Show Car No. 8 achieves its production efficiency by combining product and production into the concept from the get-go, all while having minimal effect on the existing production facility. As result of this, the car can be integrated into the SMART Roadster platform and the self-supporting body from the plant in Hambach, France. Utilizing an individual independent design, this project expands products and new market opportunities.
At the IAA 2005 in Frankfurt, EDAG plans to leverage their platform by hearing feedback from industry specialists and end customers in order to test the level of acceptance of EDAG Show Car No. 8. Eventually, this vehicle will be presented as an on-road prototype at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. This will mark a world premiere and an impressive milestone in combining product variety and profitability.
