Maserati stole the show last year when they triumphed in the FIA GT Championship with the MC12 GT1. Commemorating the win, the MC12 Corsa – a limited edition of 12 units – was subsequently introduced.
Compared to the base MC12, the edo Maserati MC12 Corsa is roughly 400 kg (880 lbs) lighter – weighing in at 1,150 instead of 1,531 kg (2530 lbs instead of 3368 lbs), which correspond to a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 1.5 kg / hp (3.36 lb / hp). The engine that powers the Corsa is a 6.0-liter V12 with a whopping 755 hp and 740 Nm (546 ft-lb) of torque, making it significantly more potent than the regular MC12 (632 hp).
Special attention has been given to the Corsa's suspension system, developed by edo and manufactured by KW. It allows for individual suspension setup via a three-way adjustment of the compression and rebound damping. This advanced feature is supplemented by a nose lift function which is taken from the MC12, to avoid front and underbody damage. edo also fitted a high-flow exhaust system to help this V12 roar. Its 100mm (4-inch) dual exhaust tips are constructed from durable V2A stainless steel, while a remote control helps adjust the sound intensity.
To bring the MC12 Corsa to a stop, a ceramic composite brake system was chosen providing 396 mm (15.6 in) rotors in the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) rotors in the rear, with specially formulated brake pads at both ends. A set of Forged Wheels (black) manufactured by edo was also fitted, featuring a 10 J x 19 on the front and 13 J x 20 at the rear, and265/35 ZR19 (front) and 335/30 ZR20 (rear) tires.
In pursuit of official approval for road service, edo can now confirm that it is in preparation. The edo MC12 Corsa is a testament to the technology and craftsmanship present in the world's most exclusive sports cars.
