Ferrari 456M GT

The Ferrari 456M GT, launched at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show, is the latest addition to the company's line of 2+2 cars. It is the evolution of the immensely popular 456 model, tailored to clients who revel in the combination of roominess and flexibility that Ferrari provides. Underneath the Pininfarina-designed body work, the car is equipped with a 5,474 cu. in. V12 engine. Moreover, the aerodynamics of the car has been improved with the integration of a front spoiler and a rear bumper. For added comfort and rigidity, the bodywork is welded to the tubular steel chassis with a special material called Feran. To reduce weight, the front bonnet is made out of carbon fibre. Inside the four-seater cockpit, the passenger cabin is upholstered in Connolly leather with electrically assisted seats and position memory, with an analogue instrumentation and check-panel. Additionally, the car has air-conditioning with a solar climate sensor and a Hi-Fi system. The car is fitted with an independent suspension system, with anti-roll bars and anti-dive geometry unequal-length, non-parallel wishbones. The brakes are self-ventilated discs with pneumatic servobrake, ABS system and electronic rear braking corrector. Moreover, the Ferrari 456M GT features a modern ASR drive control system connected to the antiskid circuit for improved safety. Under the bonnet, the car has a 65 degrees V12, 334.0 cu. in. engine delivering 436 HP. This is paired with either a mechanical 6-speed plus reverse gearbox (GT version) or an automatic 4-speed plus reverse gearbox (GTA version) and a Bosch M 5.2 engine management system.
