Only 400 F40s were originally intended to be produced, all painted red, but over 1,300 F40 cars were eventually manufactured. The Ferrari F40 was Enzo Ferrari's last project before he passed away, and was designed as the successor to the company's GTO supercar; it was built to commemorate the company's 40th anniversary.
