Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT Brand North America, believes that the 500e "changes the paradigm" for electric vehicles. The vehicle is designed to be powerful, efficient, and reliable; producing 111 horsepower (83 kW), with 80 miles of estimated range, and recharging in a mere 4 hours via its Level 2 (240 volt) on-board charging module (OBCM). Furthermore, engineers have fine-tuned the steering and braking systems for enjoyable and confident handling on the road. On the outside, the 500e has a cutting-edge look, thanks to its aerodynamic shape and retro-futuristic dot-matrix style components. An impressive 13 percent aerodynamic improvement compared to the 2013 model is achieved with over 140 hours of wind tunnel testing and refinement, adding 5 miles to the estimated range.
