Fiat Barchetta 2003 posters

Fiat Barchetta First Class of Alviero Martini

The Fiat Barchetta was a roadster designed and produced by Italian manufacturer Fiat, running from 1995 to 2005 (though production was stopped for two years starting from May 2002). The development of the car began in 1990, with the codename of Tipo B Spider 176, and was designed by a team from Fiat Centro Stile. The car was made from the chassis of the Mark 1 Fiat Punto, and its engine - producing 131 PS / 96 kW - was the 1.8 litre petrol unit with twin-cam and variable camshaft timing, which was known for its clattering noise when it starts to wear. Weighing in at 1060 kg (2337 lbs) without air conditioning, the Barchetta had a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 8.9 seconds. The car got a facelift in 2003 before relaunching the following year, with various modifications inside and out. The production of the Barchetta stopped in June 2005. The bodies for the Barchetta were welded at ILCAS in Sparone Canavese, with final assembly done in Chivasso by the coachbuilder Maggiora. Following the bankruptcy of Maggiora in 2002, Fiat shifted production to its Mirafiori plant and resumed production two years later. The Barchetta was only available in left hand drive, even though it was marketed and sold in two right hand drive markets, the United Kingdom and Japan.
