Fiat Barchetta First Class of Alviero Martini

The Fiat Barchetta was a roadster produced by Italian manufacturer Fiat from 1995 to 2005. Its development began in 1990 under the project name Tipo B Spider 176, with Andreas Zapatinas, Peter Barrett Davis and other car designers at the Fiat Centro Stile responsible for its design. Prototyping was undertaken by Stola, while car bodies were welded at ILCAS in Sparone Canavese, with final assembly carried out at the Maggiora coachbuilder. After Maggiora's bankruptcy in 2002 Fiat relocated production of the Barchetta to its Mirafiori plant, eventually ending production in June 2005. Powered by the 1.8 L, 131 PS / 96 kW petrol engine with a twin-cam and variable camshaft timing, the Barchetta weighs 1060 kg (2337 lbs) and accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. During production a myriad of minor changes from both inside and out were made, and it was sold predominantly in left hand drive markets - though it was marketed in two right hand drive markets, the United Kingdom and Japan.
