Fiat Cinquecento Sporting 1.1i

The Fiat Cinquecento was a city car launched by Fiat in late 1991 to replace the Fiat 126. It was the first model produced solely by the FSM plant in Tychy, Poland, whose production of the 126 (in its Polish variant, the Polski Fiat 126p) had recently been sold to Fiat by the Polish state. The production of the Cinquecento ended in 1998 when it was replaced by the Seicento. The Cinquecento was only available in a small, angular 3-door hatchback style with a favorable drag coefficient of 0.33. It featured several advances compared to older Fiat city cars such as independent suspension in both the front and rear, front disc brakes, side impact bars, crumple zones, and galvanized body panels to prevent corrosion. Steering was accomplished by a rack and pinion system, and the car could be ordered with a number of extras including central locking, power windows, sunroof, and air conditioning. It was a front-wheel drive car that was initially offered with two engines: the 704 cc ohv two-cylinder engine (already in service in the 126p BIS) that delivered 30 bhp DIN, and the 903/899 cc ohv four-cylinder engine that produced 40/39 bhp, DIN respectively. This four-cylinder engine was fitted with fuel injection and was the base engine of the Cinquecento. In 1995 the Cinquecento Sporting was introduced, featuring the 1.1 L ohc FIRE 54 hp engine (40 kW), a 30mm drop in standard suspension, 13-inch alloy wheels, and color-coded bumpers and mirrors. This model gave rise to a rallying trophy and a Group A Kit-Car version.
