Fiat Oltre Concept

Today the "Oltre Fiat" show car was revealed at the Bologna Motor Show in an impressive display. This exceptional model demonstrates the Fiat Group's highly advanced technology, even in the large four-wheel drive and off-road area. It is based on the Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle), the ultra modern military off-road vehicle chosen by the British and Italian Armies following the FCLV (Future Command and Liaison Vehicle). This show car boasts considerable external measurements - 4,870 mm long, 2,050 mm tall, 2,200 mm wide - and a wheelbase of 3,230 mm. Its "extraordinary" design is characterised by straight wheelarches cutting across the clean sides and strategically recessed door handles to reduce obstructions when off-roading. This design concept highlights the model's everyday usefulness which its powerful performance further accentuates. The Crew-Cab version (long cab with open platform) strikes a perfect balance between the feeling of superiority from inside the comfortable cab and the ruggedness of an expedition pick-up. The tubular structure above the cab enhances the solidity of the whole vehicle, with the addition of a full rollover bar in the cab itself. The adjustable sunshade at the top of the windscreen furthers the dynamism of the roof and harks back to vehicles used for desert crossings. The Fiat Oltre illustrates strength and durability, inheriting all the features of the military model, starting from the permanent 4x4 transmission which allows it to adapt to any setting. This is aided by the 50 cm ground clearance and the effective independent suspension system with spring and coaxial dampers. This vehicle's amazing exploring capabilities are highlighted by its all-wheel drive system, which is activated mechanically when needed. Further to this, the three differentials lock, ensuring optimal wheel grip. The Fiat Oltre can climb inclines of up to 40% laterally and 80% longitudinally and it has a fording depth of 85 cm or 1.5 m with special inlet and exhaust pipe fittings. Additionally, the show car is fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico 315/40R26 XL (Extra load) shells, which provide excellent traction and support. It is driven by an Iveco F1C Common rail diesel engine with variable geometry turbo and intercooler, delivering a maximum power output of 136 kW (185 bhp) at 3700 rpm and peak torque of 456 Nm at 1800 rpm. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, the model reaches a top speed of over 130 km/h. The total weight of the show car is nearly seven tonnes, and it has a capacity of about three tonnes. Depending on the interior design, it can accommodate four or five passengers.
