Fiat Punto Active

The Fiat Punto has been a supermini produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat since 1994. First appearing on the auto market as Project 176, the Punto was known for its stylish design by Giorgetto Giugiaro, which helped it become the 1995 European Car of the Year. It was also praised for its competitive pricing and its performance, such as the 1.4GT Turbo engine that was able to reach 124 mph and accelerate to 60mph in only 7.9 seconds. The second generation, Nuova (New) Punto, codenamed Project 188, was released in 1999 with an all-new styling and chassis. Notably, it gained a round Fiat badge on the tailgate, to celebrate Fiat's centenary. Under the hood, it was equipped with a 1.2 petrol engine, 8 or 16 valves with power ranging from 60 to 80 hp, or a 1.9 diesel engine. Sporty versions, the 1.2 16 valve Sporting and the 1.8 HGT, were also available with the former reaching 60 mph in 8.6 seconds. This edition also had Dualdrive electric power steering and a fuel-efficient common rail diesel MultiJet engine. In 2003, Fiat celebrated the rollout of the 5,000,000th production Punto. An update was released the same year, making the Mark 2 revision B (also known as Zastava 10). In June 2005, Fiat produced the 6,000,000th Punto. It is currently the fourth-best selling supermini in Europe.
