Fiat Topolino 500

The Fiat Topolino 500 was an automobile model produced by Fiat from 1937 to 1955. The affectionately-named "Topolino" (Italian for "Little Mouse") was one of the world's smallest cars, featuring a 569cc four-cylinder, side-valve, water cooled engine situated in front of the front axle. Its top speed was a modest 53mph (85 km/h), and was able to achieve 39.2 mpg (100 km for 6 liters). This vehicle was priced at 8,900 lire, the equivalent of around 7,000 euro in today's currency, and 520,000 units were sold during its production. In 1955, the midsize rear wheel drive Fiat 600 was introduced, which would then become the design of the new Fiat 500 - the 500 Nuova or 'Bambino'. Often mistaken for the only 500 variant, the Nuova is an iconic cultural staple even today.
