Ford BA Falcon XR6 Turbo
The Ford BA Falcon XR6 Turbo is equipped with the high performance Barra 240T engine, boosted with a turbocharger and intercooler to offer an impressive 240kW of power. Available in both XR6 sedan and Ute models, it will come with either manual or automatic transmission. The Garrett GT40 turbo runs at 6psi and allows the 4.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine to deliver up to 450Nm of torque between 2000rpm and 4500rpm. Its rev limit has been increased to 6000rpm and the engine's knock sensor allows for running on both regular unleaded and premium fuel. The Powertrain Control Module is optimized for full wastegate control and to keep the turbo cool, oil and water is used during both driving and shut-down. The turbocharged engine is calibrated for minimum lag and maximum output and a specially-cast stainless steel exhaust manifold has been designed for durability and reliability. Ford has altered the base engine with new pistons featuring a dished bowl and a fully-floating gudgeon pin, with the two top piston rings of a different design for better heat handling and combustion pressure. It also has a compression ratio of 8.7:1 and requires a heavy duty lubricating oil.
