Ford BF Falcon XR8 Ute

The Ford BF Falcon is a full-size car produced by Ford Motor Company in Victoria, Australia. It was launched in October 2005, with a MkII update rolled out a year later. The BF Falcon features the same engines as its predecessor, the BA Falcon, as well as several technical upgrades. The car's 6-cylinder engine was improved with dual-independent variable cam timing, which reduced vibration as well as boosting power from 182 kW to 190 kW. While the SOHC V8 also enjoyed a power increase and improved fuel economy, the 4-speed automatic transmission was replaced with a German-made 6-speed developed by ZF and Bosch. The XR6 Turbo's power rose to 245 kW (329 hp). The BF MkII was officially launched in October 2006, and brought some minor interior and exterior updates, along with an upgraded sporting image. The Ford Fairmont Ghia saw a major redesign with more chrome and larger alloy wheels, and the XT, Futura, and Fairmont all featured a facelift. Ford's success in Australia is closely related to the introduction of the Falcon in the 1960s to meet local resistance to "smaller" models. Attempts to introduce the American Taurus in Australia and New Zealand failed, while the Mondeo, available largest in Europe since 1998, was unpopular there.
