Ford BF MkII Falcon XR8

The Ford BF Falcon is a full-size car from the Ford Motor Company, manufactured in Victoria, Australia. First released in October 2005, the MkII update came out the following year. It featured the same engines as the previous BA Falcon, but with technical upgrades. This included dual-independent variable cam timing with the 6-cylinder engines, improved knock sensing for the SOHC V8, ECU modifications and an increase in power and fuel economy, to meet Euro III emissions standards. The engine went from 182 to 190 kW, and fuel efficiency is around 10-13 liters per 100 km. The 4-speed automatic transmissions were revised with the BF, introducing a new 6-speed automatic from ZF and Bosch. The XR6 Turbo received a power bump to 245 kW (329 hp).

Mark II

The BF Mark II was launched on 6 October 2006, and became available for sale three weeks later. Changes in the models included facelifts for the XT, Futura and Fairmont, while the XR range saw minor interior updates. The Ford Fairmont Ghia saw a major exterior upgrade, including more chrome and larger alloy wheels. The Fairmont didn't receive the special body kit, but still got visual tweaks. Ford Australia had a dilemma in the 1960s, when buyers were resistant to smaller models, leading to the Falcon's introduction. US Ford Taurus' were unable to break into the market, while the Mondeo, big in Europe but unpopular in Australia, is the largest available model from Ford, since the Scorpio was dropped in 1998.
