Ford Edge Concept
Ford, a company that revolutionized the crossover utility vehicle segment, unveiled new automated driving technologies with the Ford Edge Concept. Equipped with push-button and remote-operated parking feature from both inside and outside the vehicle, the Edge Concept is setting a new tech standard for utility vehicles.
"The original Ford Edge was a revolutionary concept for North America that featured efficient, safe and accommodating design," explained Joe Hinrichs, executive vice president and president of The Americas, Ford Motor Company. "The next-gen Edge, showcased in the Edge Concept, builds on its predecessors in order to become a global vehicle with progressive tech features for convenient living and stylish design that everybody loves."
Highlighting sleek, sporty appearance, capability, fuel efficiency, and driver-assisting technology, the Edge Concept caters to the needs of customers on a global level. IHS Automotive estimated that from 2007 to 2012, the utility vehicle sales raised by 45%, accounting for 13 million annual sales or 17% of the global automotive market. China is projected to experience a 100% growth in utility vehicle sale during 2012-2017, while South America is set for a 39% growth and Europe for 27%.
