Ford SVT Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin

In 2006, Ford updated the Explorer and Mountaineer with a new frame produced by Magna International, rather than Tower Automotive. It was upsized due to the introduction of Ford Freestyle which slotted between the Escape and the Explorer. Along with its new, stronger base, it featured a revamped interior, redesigned rear suspension, and power-folding 3rd-row seats. The Ford Explorer also came standard with electronic stability control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Power running boards, similar to those on the Lincoln Navigator, were available as an option, retracting when the vehicle moves. The 4.0 L V6 engine provided 210 hp (157 kW) while the 24-valve V8 engine from the Mustang offered 292 hp (218 kW). A six-speed automatic transmission was also available with the V8 engine. The Explorer was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2006. Ford also released a new Sport Trac, based on the new, larger Explorer platform, for the 2007 model year. Unlike its predecessor, the new Sport Trac included an optional V8 engine and standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™.
