This year marks the debut of the first-ever performance version of the
Ford Explorer, which is expected to provide the highest fuel economy among gasoline-powered, high-performance SUVs. With a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost® V6 engine capable of generating at least 350 horsepower and four-wheel drive with a Terrain Management System™, the Ford Explorer Sport offers upgraded on-road dynamics and a sporty design both inside and out.

For 2013, the Ford Explorer Sport comes with improved responsiveness, and is projected to offer up to 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway – making it 3 mpg more efficient on city roads and 2 mpg on highways than the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango R/T 5.7-liter Hemi engines and 3 mpg higher in the city and 4 mpg higher on the highway than the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

"By intelligently optimizing the chassis and suspension, cautiously calibrating the Terrain Management System, and adding comfort and convenience features, we're able to offer drivers an SUV that offers superior dynamics and performance while being able to tow up to 5,000 pounds."
