Ford Explorer Sport Trac
The Ford Explorer Sport Trac boasts a 4.0 L SOHC 12 valve V-6 engine with 205 hp (153 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) of torque. It is the exclusive 5-door model of the Explorer series, bearing a similar appearance to the well-known Ford Expedition SUV and sharing its options and trim packages. Rated from the base Sport Value to the Limited, the Sport Trac is known for its spacious interior and total passenger capacity of seven. Powertrain configurations include the Mazda 5-speed manual, 5-speed Ford C3-derived automatic, and rear-wheel, four-wheel, and all-wheel drive for the 2002-2004 and 2005 model years respectively. It is noted for the addition of stability control, Ford's AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system, as an offered package starting in 2002. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac enjoys a fully independent rear suspension in contrast to Ford's non-independent "live axle" rear suspension found in many previous models. This drastically improves the vehicle's ride comfort, on-road handling, and overall stability, vastly improving the safety of the driver and passengers.
