Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson

In 1997, Ford took its F-series styling to a new level with the introduction of the round-nosed F-150. Available as either a regular cab or SuperCab, as well as a standard or flareside box, and with either a short or long bed, the F-150 also had 7-lug wheels. Its success was so great that a SuperCrew cab was released in 2001. A new Lightning was unveiled in 1999, as well as the Harley-Davidson and King Ranch versions. The super-duty F-250 and F-350 models, in the meantime, stayed in the preceding generation until 1999. Sales for the F-150 topped 750,000 from 1997 to 2001, and it was deemed Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year that same year. Also in '97, the F-150 featured truly modular Ford Single Overhead cam (SOHC) engines for more powerful performance. The following table outlines the engine specs for the 1997-2003 model years:
  • 4.2 L Essex V6, 202 hp/252 ft.lbf
  • 4.6 L Triton V8, 220 hp/280 ft.lbf
  • 4.6 L Triton V8, 231 hp/293 ft.lbf
