Ford F-150 SVT Lightning

In 1999, Ford SVT brought out the Second Generation Ford Lightning with a modular 5.4 L V8 engine producing 360 horsepower and 440 ft·lbf of torque, thanks in part to its factory-installed Eaton Supercharger. Power was sent to the rear end housing 3.55:1 gears via a 4R100 automatic transmission. Equipped with specially developed 18" wheels, the Lightning was lowered in the front by half an inch and the rear by two inches. The suspension system remained largely unchanged in the 2001 Model. For that year, the engine was tweaked to produce 380 horsepower and 450 ft·lbf of torque. In 2003, Ford addressed the issue of the lack of proper threads for spark plugs in the engine heads and updated the drivetrain further by reducing the final drive ratio to 3.73:1 and upgrading the drive shaft to a 4.5-inch aluminum unit. Its tires, Goodyear Eagle F1 295/45ZR-18, were also made more powerful with a new generation F1 GS rubber compound. As a result, Car and Driver magazine clocked the Lightning going from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The 2003 Model Year also saw an increase in cargo capacity from 800 lb. to 1,200 lb. For color, the Lightning was available in Bright Red, Black, White, Silver and True Blue in its second generation, while in 2003, Light Sonic Blue and Dark Shadow Grey were added to the selection. These trucks were built at Ford's Ontario Truck Facility in Oakville, Ontario.
