Ford Fiesta ECOnetic
At the 2008 Paris Show, the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic led the Fiesta range, bringing a stylish blend of low-CO2 efficiency. This model features a specially-calibrated version of the 90 PS 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine combined with a coated Diesel Particulate Filter. Impressive fuel economy allows it to travel 100 kilometres while using only 3.7 litres on the EC Combined Cycle, while also providing a class-leading CO2 output of 98 grams per kilometre – making Ford Fiesta ECOnetic the most environmentally friendly vehicle in both its segment and Ford's European range.
When compared with the previous-generation Fiesta 1.6-litre TDCi, Ford Fiesta ECOnetic will save them money by using 160 litres less fuel over 20.000 km. Highway and extra-urban driving will further benefit, as Ford Fiesta ECOnetic can cover 100 kilometres using only 3.2 litres of fuel. This efficiency won't affect driving quality or performance, as the vehicle can reach a top speed of 178 kph in only 12.3 seconds.
Ford has employed special attention to detail to make this possible. Improved aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres and enhanced lubrication are all employed to lower the drag co-efficient to 0.33 and to maximize CO2 and fuel consumption. Additionally, the ride height keeps the ECOnetic steady and aerodynamic details like wheel covers and wheel deflectors add to its versatility.
