Ford Fiesta ST

In 2002, the third-generation car was introduced as a completely new design with no inherited traits from the 1976 original. Most engines were carried over from the previous model, however the sportier models featured a 'Zetec' tag instead of 'Si'. The styling of the car was drawn from the larger Focus and some original trims like 'Finesse', 'LX', 'Zetec' and 'Ghia' was offered. Additionally a range of 'Limited Edition' variants became available. Amongst the engine types include 1.25 L, 1.3 L, 1.4 L, 1.6 L, 2.0 L petrol (gasoline) and 1.4 and 1.6 TDCi (common rail diesel engines developed with PSA). The Ford Fiesta ST is the performance variant of the Fiesta aimed to replicate the success of the XR2. It comes with 17" alloy wheels, unique front and rear bumpers, partial leather seats and a ST logo on the steering wheel. It is powered by a 2.0L petrol engine able to deliver up to 150PS. The new Fiesta was also sold in Asia and Australasia as 1.6 L LX 3dr/5dr, Zetec 3dr, Ghia 5dr, and on the other side of the world in Brazil and Argentina with a slightly different exterior design, the Fiesta Sedan. Following the same path, a Fiesta Sedan version was released in India in late 2005. In 2006 Ford further developed the concept of the Fiesta by introducing a refreshed version featuring reshaped headlamps and bonnet, and soft-feel dashboard. The digital fuel readout was also dropped in favour of an analogue instrument display similar to the Mk.2 Focus. New features including satellite navigation, powerfold mirrors, Bluetooth voice control and MP3 player connectivity as well as a range of exterior metallic paint colours complete the package.
