Ford Five Hundred

For the 2008 model year, the Ford Five Hundred sedan has been upgraded with nearly 30 percent more power and a brand-new look both inside and out. It is set to go on sale in the summer of 2007. The Five Hundred is equipped with a 3.5-liter Duratec V-6 engine that is estimated to produce 260 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. It also features a six-speed automatic transmission and Ford's AdvanceTrac electronic stability control system. Structural upgrades, such as reinforcements in the footwell area and new interior door panels are also included to enhance crash protection. The exterior of the car sports Ford's signature three-bar chrome grille and a sculpted hood that gives it a more structured look. Additional details include chrome side vents, door handles, and mirror caps, as well as new taillamps and a rear fascia that houses chrome-tipped dual exhausts. According to Cisco Codina, Ford's group vice president of North America Marketing, Sales and Service, “Customers love the Five Hundred's ride and package, and its safety reputation is excellent. For this year, we've dialed up the appeal with a new, more expressive look, a more powerful engine and more than 500 changes to make this great car even better.” Despite the upgrades, real-world fuel economy for the front-wheel-drive model is expected to stay the same due to advancements in powertrain technology.
