The Ford Focus is celebrating a decade of success in 2008 with the launch of a refreshed new model. With the signature 'kinetic design' style, enhanced interior, the latest technologies, environmentally aware architecture, and remarkable driving dynamics, the Focus remains the benchmark in the mid-size car market. Since the original Focus was introduced in 1998, more than 5 million Focuses have been produced across Europe. Martin Smith, Ford of Europe's Executive Director for Design, stated: "It was our goal to ensure that the new model was still recognizable as a Ford Focus, but distinguishable from previous generations. We are pleased with the results, as the Focus enjoys a more assertive presence and emphasized lines that highlight its dynamic handling capabilities. This car demonstrates our 'energy in motion' philosophy that is encompassed in our 'kinetic design' form language."
