Ford Focus RS8 with Cammer Engine

The Ford Focus is a compact/small family car produced by the Ford Motor Company and sold globally. It first hit the dealership lots in 1998 in Europe and 2000 in North America, soon becoming the top-selling car in the United Kingdom. An upgraded rendition of the original model was released in Europe in January 2005 and the United States soon after. By 2001 and 2002, the Focus was the world's best-selling automobile. Design and Engineering Dubbed ‘CW170’ in its development, and mistakenly referred to as the ‘Ford Fusion’ by few contractors, the Focus originated from a Ghia concept car which was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1991. Unveiled earlier were Ford prototypes which demonstrated the car's signature safety features like the eye-level rear lighting clusters. Images taken in 1995 showed the car with the Ford 'New Edge' styling as seen in the Ka (1996) and Cougar (1998). Innovation at its finest, the Ford Focus interior featured curves and sweeping lines and had an overall American look - a differentiating factor from the Mk 1 Mondeo. Also a part of the Focus update was a sophisticated, independently operated multi-link rear suspension (dubbed "Control Blade") which improved ride and handling dynamics. Despite the high cost and difficulty of creating such a set-up–multi-link rear suspension was a rarity in the segment at the time–Ford used pressed metal techniques to build the suspension efficiently and affordably. The Ford Focus predecessor had featured a torsion beam rear suspension.
