Ford Freestar 2006 posters

Ford Freestar

The Ford Freestar is a minivan manufactured by the American automaker Ford Motor Company and it came to replace the Ford Windstar for the 2004 model year. It features similar mechanics to the Windstar but it added a new name to Ford's "word beginning with F" strategy. The Freestar and its twin model Mercury Monterey are built in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The Freestar can fit up to seven passengers and offers an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. It's available in five different trim levels: Freestar (base), SE, Sport, SEL, and Limited. In the U.S., the Freestar offers two available V6 engines, a 3.9 L with 193 hp (144 kW) at 4,500 rpm and 240 ft·lbf (325 N·m) of torque at 3,750 rpm; and a larger 4.2 L with 201 hp (150 kW) at 4,250 rpm and 263 ft·lbf (357 N·m) of torque at 3,650 rpm. Whereas the smaller engine is only available in the United States, the larger 4.2L comes as standard in Canada. Sales of the Freestar and Monterrey in the U.S. have been average, yet the model records higher volumes in Canada (where the Monterrey isn't offered). In 2008, Ford will launch a retro-styled three-row crossover SUV called the Ford Fairlane amid rumors that the Freestar will be discontinued after the 2007 model year. Also, the Freestar is available for sale in Mexico and Taiwan. Its VIN code is A5 on the 5th and 6th positions.
