Ford Fusion SES V6

The Ford Fusion (code name CD338) is a mid-size car manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico. It is the successor to the discontinued Taurus and a de facto late successor to the small intermediate Ford Contour. Production began on August 1, 2005, with a projected production volume of 160,000-200,000 per year. The Fusion has a three-bar grille design which is expected to become a company trademark look for the rest of the decade. It stands in a competitive market with the Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Galant, and Pontiac G6. Car and Driver notes that it is similar in size to the first generation Ford Taurus, serving as an example of car size inflation since the 1980s. The Fusion is based on Ford's CD3 platform, just like the Mazda 6, and is larger than the Ford Contour yet smaller than the Ford Five Hundred. It has been modified and strengthened, and the suspension has been adjusted for an improved ride. Its engines include the Mazda-designed 2.3 L Duratec 23 I4 and Ford-designed 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6, with both manual and automatic transmissions options. All wheel drive will be an option for 2007, as well as a new Duratec 35. The choice of the name Fusion came after a trademark lawsuit against Ford with the Pep Boys auto parts store, which had a line of tires under the Futura brand. The Fusion also shares some interior parts with European Mondeo, such as part of the console and the seats. Engines available in the Ford Fusion SES V6 are the 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6 with 221 hp (165 kW) and 205 ft·lbf (278 N·m), and 2.3 L Duratec 23 I4 with 160 hp and 156 ft·lbf.
