Ford Fusion SES V6

The Ford Fusion (code name CD338) is a mid-size car shaped from Ford's CD3 platform upon which the Mazda 6 is well-known. Launched in 2005 as a 2006 model, the Fusion succeeds Ford's Taurus and Contour models. It is produced by Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Mexico, where the Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ, which are built on the same platform, are also made. At its launch, the Fusion showcased Ford's new three-bar grille design and is expected to become the company's signature look for the foreseeable future. It has a production volume of 160,000-200,000 pieces a year. The Fusion is in competition with other vehicles in its segments such as the Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Galant, and Pontiac G6. Although it is marketed as a mid-size car, the car is apparently similar in size to the first-gen Ford Taurus - an example of car size inflation since the 1980s. The CD3 platform of the Fusion is stretched by 1.2 inches in width and 2.2 inches in length and is reinforced and designed to have a more comfortable ride than the Mazda 6. All-wheel drive and a Duratec 35 engine are available as options for 2007. The car uses both an I4 and V6 engine, designed by Ford and Mazda and, respectively; the Fusion shares some interior parts with the Mondeo, which is unrelated to it. Originally, the Fusion was set to be called the Ford Futura, but Ford lost a trademark lawsuit to the Pep Boys auto parts store. The Falcxo and Torino names were also popular choices, but was ruled out due to name duplication and causing confusion.
