Ford Shelby SVT Cobra GT500 Mustang Show Car

The Shelby GT500 is Ford and Shelby's Mustang for the 2007 model year. Unveiled at the 2005 New York International Auto Show, this vehicle features a 5.4 L Modular supercharged V8, boasting components from the Ford GT supercar and 2000 Cobra R. With a 500 hp Iron block and aluminum heads, this powerful machine has a bore x stroke of 3.552 x 4.165 inches, giving it a 330 in³ (5,409 cc) displacement and a 8.4:1 static compression ratio. It is paired with a double-disk clutch (215 mm = 8.44 in) adapted from Valeo and its first gear is 2.97:1, with a 6th gear of 0.63:1 and an overall gear ratio in 1st of 9.831. The Shelby GT500 contains an Eaton M122H Roots-style supercharged blower which provides an impressive 9 psi of boost. It has redesigned rotor and port design which Eaton claims offers a 15% improvement in adiabatic efficiency compared to the M112. It has a curb weight of 3920 lb (1750 kg) for the coupe and 4040 lb (1804 kg) for the convertible, both with a 57/43 front/rear weight distribution. The suspension includes a stock Mustang GT K-member along with revised bushings, spring rates and shock rates. It was paired with a 14" front disk and 4-piston Brembo calipers for stopping power. For grip, it comes with 285/40ZR18 rear and 255/45ZR18 front Goodyear Eagle Supercar tires. Despite being the most powerful factory-produced Mustang ever, Car & Driver was only able to get 12.9 sec quarter-mile out of the Shelby GT500 while the Corvette ran a 12.8. Road & Track was able to muster a 13.1 quarter-mile while Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (August 2006 issue) recorded a best time of 12.257s and trap speeds of over 117 mph.
