Ford GT40 Concept
The Ford GT40 concept takes its inspiration from the legendary vehicle created by Henry Ford II which changed performance car history and revolutionized the world of racing in the 1960s. It now finds its place in Ford's "Living Legends" lineup of concept and production cars, which includes the Ford Thunderbird, Mustang and Forty-Nine concept.
J Mays, Ford's vice president of Design, states: "GT40 is the ultimate Living Legend. It's a true supercar with appeal equal to that of the greatest sports cars in the world, but with the addition of a heritage no one can match. Essential elements of the original - including the stunning low profile and mid-mounted American V-8 - continue in this latest interpretation of the classic."
This new concept is far from a simple copycat of the original, as the dimensions and curves have all been unique reinterpreted. With a length more than a foot and a half longer and standing four inches taller, the new GT40 has kept the familiar low profile and mid-mounted American V-8, but the modern lines, stripes and fiber-optic headlamps give the car an unmistakably contemporary vibe.
