Ford Mondeo ST TDCi

The Ford Mondeo Second Generation model was first released to the public in October 2000. This Mondeo was larger than its predecessor, and less distinctive in terms of its design, being the first vehicle to use the Prodigy concept car's overall effect. Ford addressed the issues with modest rear legroom and the under par diesel engine with a longer wheelbase and new Duratorq diesel engine. Despite using the same chassis and suspension design as its predecessor, the car still managed to maintain its reputation for outstanding handling and ride. The Mondeo came to Mexico to replace the North American Contour from 2001 to 2007, when the Ford Fusion took over. The Fusion and the Ford Five Hundred/Taurus sport similar styling both externally and internally. In order to compete with the Volkswagen Passat (B5) in 1996, Ford placed much emphasis on the Mondeo's interior. They abandoned the American style of the first generation in favor of a more executive 'Germanic' design and used high-quality materials. Ford simplified their trim levels a lot; in the UK vehicle owners had the choice between LX, Zetec, Zetec S, Ghia, Ghia X and ST. Then, in 2003, a facelift saw the introduction of Titanium and Titanium X in between Zetec S and Ghia, and ST220 above ST.
