Ford Mustang Convertible CAGED by Ringbrothers

Ringbrothers, custom car builders and parts manufacturers, recently unveiled their newest custom creation - the 1964.5 Ford Mustang convertible, aptly named "CAGED". Ringbrothers' objective with this build was to subtly update the original Mustang's lines and proportions to give the classic car a modern twist while still honoring the timeless appeal of the Ford's original pony car. The build was completed using only Ringbrothers-made parts and only a few factory Mustang parts such as the center caps for the wheels, resulting in a vehicle boasting unrivaled performance and modern aesthetics. The exterior of "CAGED" was painted with BASF Glasurit "Burgundy Brave", and the chrome and stainless-steel trim was treated with Cerakote Titanium C-105P. Furthermore, the Ringbrothers team conducted extensive metalwork to convert the Roadster Shop FAST TRACK chassis back into a unibody and widened and lengthened the bodywork by one inch. "The client was highly involved in the process and adamant on maintaining a subtle, stock-like appearance," said Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring. "Everything was cued off the Mustang's original design, but we sharpened the lines and added a number of 3D-printed details to make it truly unique." The front grille of "CAGED" was set back two inches while the engine received a boost, powered by a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 crate engine filled with Motul engine oil for protection and performance. To complete the project, a Flowmaster exhaust system was installed along with Ford's 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission. Continental tires, one-off 18-inch EVOD Industries wheels, Penske Racing Shocks RS Edition performance coilovers front and rear, an independent rear suspension and a set of Baer Brakes were some of the other items included in the build, providing the Mustang with excellent grip and responsiveness. A labor of love, nearly 4,200 hours were invested in the completion of the "CAGED" build. Jim Ring expressed his appreciation for their trusted partners such as BASF, Motul, GFS, Heat Shield Products, Miller Welding and Painless Wiring. “We’re proud of the nuances we added to this design,” he added. “Only an expert eye will be able to discern the subtle differences.”
