Ford Mustang Boss 429

The iconic 1969 Ford Mustang featured a restyle that added bulk to the body, increasing length by 3.8 inches (97 mm), width by just under half an inch, and weight. It was also the first to use quad headlamps and introduced the beloved corralled grille pony. Along with a standard fastback body, the Mustang also sported a new 'Sportsroof' design, which was adorned with convex side panels. It was also in 1969 that the iconic Mach 1 was launched. It featured distinctive stiping along the body sides, a "shaker" hood scoop, and matte-black hood with simulated air scoop, as well as a deluxe interior with simulated wood trim and high backed seats. It proved to be a popular choice with 72,458 cars sold through 1969. Ford also introduced the Boss 302 and Boss 429 models. The Boss 302 was created to meet Trans Am rules and featured hockey-stick stripes, while the understated Boss 429 was created to homologate the boss 429 engine for NASCAR use. These models still demand premium pricing, with 1628 Boss 302's and 859 Boss 429's sold through 1969.
