Ford Mustang Bullitt GT

For 1994, Ford introduced the "SN-95" version of the Mustang, which featured much-improved styling with influences from earlier Mustangs. This reinvigorated the Mustang's popularity, and the base model was equipped with a 3.8 L V6 engine producing 145 horsepower (108 kW). The GT model offered a 5.0 L V8 engine, upgraded with a 5.0L Thunderbird intake manifold and 60mm throttle body for 215 hp (179 kW). The Mustang Cobra also returned, with its GT-40-equipped 5.0 L engine producing an impressive 240 hp (179 kW). To mark this release, the Mustang Cobra convertible was selected as the Pace Car for the 1995 Indianapolis 500, and 1,000 replicas were built and sold through dealerships. In 1996, the 5.0 GT engine was replaced with a 4.6 L SOHC V8 engine producing 215 hp (160 kW). This so-called "modular" engine was adopted to modernize Ford's engine lineup and featured two valves per cylinder. The Cobra model was enhanced with a high-revving 305 hp (227 kW) dual overhead cam configuration of the 4.6 L V8. Its cast aluminum block was produced by Teksid of Italy and featured split ports and huge valves. To improve low-end responsiveness, SVT added an intake manifold with dual runners, with the secondaries engaging around 3000 rpm. 1996 also saw the 3.8 L V6 increased to a 150 hp (112 kW) rating. In 1998, the SOHC 4.6 L V8 engine was increased to 225 hp (168 kW), and this was the last year of the "Round Body Mustang". Sporting a unique black stripe, the "Sports" package was also available this year.
