Ford Mustang Cobra Racecar
The 2001 Cobra was an upgraded version of the 1999 Cobra, featuring several changes to the body and engine design. Notable features include a revised engine block and cylinder heads, Cobra-specific seats with leather bolsters and alcantara inserts, a rear bumper that reads "COBRA" instead of "MUSTANG", and a rear badge on the trunklid reading "SVT". The car also boasts a newer steering wheel and an upgraded Mach audio system, five-spoke aluminum or chrome wheels, a Tremec TR-3650 transmission, 31 spline axleshafts, a redesigned rear decklid spoiler, and a new 6-disc audio unit. The headlights were changed from chrome to a blacked-out background, and the buttons for the fog lights, rear window defroster, and anti-skid system were moved to a panel below the radio unit. With these upgrades, the 2001 Cobra is able to go 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and do a quarter mile in 13.8 seconds at 102 mph.
In terms of paint and interior trim, the 2001 Cobra was available in eight exterior paint colors and two interior color choices. The Dark Charcoal interior featured Dark Charcoal leather bolsters with Medium Graphite alcantara inserts, while the Medium Parchment interior had Chocolate Brown leather bolsters with Medium Parchment alcantara inserts. The vinyl top of convertible models was available in black, parchment, or white.
