Longing in the garage and weekends at the track, the Ford Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 was developed with an extraordinary amount of effort and dedication on the part of the Mustang team. Giving true insight to the passion these gearheads had for the project, Tom Barnes, Mustang vehicle engineering manager, stated, "A passion to create something special is what really drove this project, and that really showed in the off-the-clock way we went about doing our work."
Led by the tire and wheel engineer Chauncy Eggleston, the Performance Pack Level 2 features notable steering and handling response improvements through unique 19-inch wheels. Plus, Ford aerodynamics specialist, Jonathan Gesek, formerly of NASA, developed a high-performance front splitter and rear spoiler. Jamie Cullen, Ford supervisor for vehicle dynamics development, supervised the road tests to ensure an ultra-responsive steering, braking, and handling experience.
The Performance Pack Level 2 is now available to order with North American showrooms receiving the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT this spring. Offering drivers a thrilling driving experience, Cullen noted, “It will just beg you to go faster. The car has lightning-quick response and never gives up grip.” Allowing drivers to make the most of the beast, the Performance Pack Level 2 also includes all the features of Performance Pack Level 1, such as unique chassis and antilock brake tuning, unique stability control and electric power-assisted steering, Brembo™ six-piston front brake calipers with larger rotors, a K-brace, larger radiator, silver-painted strut tower brace, and a TORSEN® rear differential with 3.73 axle ratio.
