Ford Mustang Mach 1

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 was introduced in 1969 with a selection of powertrains and numerous fresh styling and performance features. It had a unique reflective striping on the side panels, a pop-open gas cap, dual exhausts, a matte-black hood with a simulated air scoop, and NASCAR-style cable and pin tiedowns. The Mach 1 came with steel wheels and letter-branded Goodyear Polyglas tires. It was possible to add a "shaker" hood scoop and tail-mounted spoilers, as well as a rear window louvered blackout shade. On the inside, drivers and passengers could enjoy a deluxe interior trimmed with simulated wood, comfortable high-backed seats, additional sound deadening, and adjustable side mirrors. With the success of the Mach 1, 72,458 units were sold in total for the 1969 model year. Also released during 1969 was the Boss 302 and Boss 429 models, both designed to meet different race standards. The Boss 302 featured unique hockey stick stripes, while the Boss 429 was created to house the Boss 429 engine for NASCAR competition. These exceptional Mustangs gained recognition in the street and raced circles, which is why they're still highly sought after today - only relatively low numbers of 1,628 Boss 302s and 859 Boss 429s were in circulation in 1969.
