Ford Mustang Q Code 1973 posters

Ford Mustang Q-Code

For 1973, some slight restyling was made to the Ford Mustang. The urethane front bumper became standard, and was made larger to meet new NHTSA standards. The sport lamps which were present in 1971 and 1972 models served as the turn signal in 1973 as the enlarged bumper covered parts of the front valance. The lamps were vertically oriented, unlike previous years. The Mach 1 or base grille options had different inserts patterns each. As for the Mach 1 decals, they were altered for 1973 models. The side stripes of 1971-1972 models were offered for the hardtop models and convertible models with the addition of the 'Exterior Decor Group'. The Magnum 500 wheels were no longer available and replaced with 5-hole forged aluminum wheels. This was the last version of the first Mustang iteration as the model name shifted to a Pinto-based Mustang II the following year.
