Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H
In a modern homage to the renowned Shelby GT350H "Rent-A-Racer" program of the 1960s, Ford Motor Company, Shelby Automobiles and The Hertz Corporation have joined forces to create a limited batch of performance-modified Ford Mustang GTs - the Shelby GT-H, taking its name from 'Hertz'. Set to be offered for rent this spring, there will be about 500 units available from the Hertz Fun Collection in select airport locations such as Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Forty years ago, Shelby and Hertz concocted an ingenious approach to give the public access to a unique driving experience usually available only on a racetrack. Ford provided the new Mustangs with V-8 engines and mostly automatic transmissions, then Shelby added extra performance and style. Nowadays, the story of the Shelby/Hertz "Rent-A-Racer" is legendary and original Shelby GT350H Mustangs are some of the most in-demand collector cars in the world.
To combine the spectacular past of the original Shelby GT350H with the modern excellence of the new Ford Mustang, Shelby, Ford and Hertz have once again partnered, and with the support of the Ford Racing Performance Group, have evolved the 2006 Ford Shelby GT-H to exhibit both a classic and powerful look as well as solid performance capabilities.
