Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 received an extensive facelift for the 1969 model year. This resulted in the body length increasing by 4 inches (100 mm), with Ford taking the lead in design and style decisions and Carroll Shelby having less input. The GT350 was equipped with a 351 cubic-inch V8. Unfortunately, Carroll Shelby terminated his agreement with Ford in the summer of 1969. No production of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500 models was undertaken in 1970; however, unsold 1969 models were given 1970 vehicle identification numbers under FBI supervision. These 1970 models had two cosmetic changes - a front chin spoiler and two black hood stripes - as well as slight emissions modifications. The GT500 had the carburetor modified and marked "ed" (edited) on the tag, and the distributor was changed to the 1970 version. Likewise, the GT350 had the distributor changed to the 1970 version. A total of 789 Ford Mustangs Shelby GT350 and GT500 models were re-VIN'd.
