Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
The 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500 received an extensive exterior redesign, increasing its length by 4 inches (100 mm). Despite Shelby's input in the design and style decisions, Ford was in overall control. The improved GT350 was equipped with a 351 cubic-inch V8 engine, while the GT500 came with a modified carburetor and marked with the tag "ed" (edited). Both models were fitted with a new 70 version distributor.
No new Shelby GT 350 and 500 models were produced in 1970, but 789 units of the 1969 models were given new 1970 vehicle identification numbers under FBI supervision. These models incorporated two cosmetic changes: a chin spoiler and two black hood stripes. Additionally, emissions modifications were also implemented.
